"Hemant Soren to Return as Chief Minister of Jharkhand Following Coalition's Decision to Replace Champai Soren"

The sources revealed on Wednesday that the legislators of the India coalition alliance have decided to replace Champai Soren with Hemant Soren as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand. Hemant Soren was elected as the leader of the bloc of parties under the Indian National Development Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) on July 3rd 2024. He later presented a claim to form the government to the Governor. Hemant Soren is prepared to return as the state's 13th Chief Minister.

Champai Soren, who had taken over as Chief Minister after Hemant Soren stepped down, is not happy with the decision to replace him, sources have said. Champai Soren, it is learnt, may be named JMM's executive president. It was expected that Champai Soren would resign later in the evening at 8 o'clock.                                 

Earlier in January, Hemant Soren had resigned from the Chief Minister's post before being arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in a money laundering case. He was granted a bail last week and denied all allegations. Last week, the Jharkhand High Court said it was "of the opinion that he is not guilty of the offence alleged".
