It is said that the left eye (Nain) of Sati fell here and this gave rise to patron deity of town Nainital. It is said that the lake is formed in the emerald eye shape. Named after an English artist Dorothy Kellet Tiffin Top offers a bird's eye view of Nainital and its surrounding hills. The name Tiffin Top was kept after people started taking their tiffin and lunch boxes to this hilltop to enjoy a family picnic.

The CBI took over the investigation of alleged irregularities in the NEET-UG examination on Sunday and has deployed its teams to several states for the enquiry. Meanwhile, the Economic Offenses Unit of Bihar Police has arrested five individuals in connection with the NEET paper leak case, bringing the total number of arrests in the state to 18. Additionally, the National Testing Agency (NTA) had disqualified 63 students in Bihar for adopting unfair means during the NEET exam.  On Saturday, it barred 30 students from Godhra, Gujarat, from taking the exam.
