West Indies defeated the USA by nine wickets in their crucial T20 World Cup 2024 Super 8 match on Saturday in Bridgetown. The game also served as a virtual eliminator for both sides. Chasing a target of 129, West Indies achieved 130/1 in 10.5 overs, thanks to Shai Hope’s unbeaten 82 off 39 balls. Andre Russell and Roston Chase took three wickets each, delivering an impressive performance by the West Indies bowlers, who bowled out the USA for 128 in 19.5 overs. Opening batsman Andre Gous was the top scorer for the USA with 29 runs off 16 balls, which was the highlight of the first innings.

Earlier, in their Super 8 clash of the T20 World Cup at Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados, the USA  set a target of only 129 runs. After being asked to bat first by West Indies captain Rovman Powell, the American team quickly stumbled from 50/1 to 65/4 in the first innings of the match.

The toss was delayed due to light rain on Saturday at Kensington Oval in Barbados. The game proceeded as scheduled, but there remained a threat of rain for the rest of the evening.

After their unbeaten streak was broken by England in their first Super 8 match, the West Indies had already geared up and could not afford any more setbacks in their quest for a third T20 World Cup title.
